Only 7% of homes sold in Massachusetts last year were listed as For Sale By Owner or FSBO. A recent study of last year's home sales all over the country found that in 2006, the number of homes listed for sale by owner was the lowest in 25 years. The homes that were sold as For Sale By Owner without the help of a REALTOR® sold for an average of 31.9% less than those sold with the help of a professional. The study found that local buyers who shopped for a home online were more likely to use an agent to purchase their home than buyers who did not use the Internet during their home search .
